Dons dinged again

Santa Barbara suffered its ninth-straight loss to start the season on Thursday, this time dropping a 60-38 decision to Righetti in Oxnard.

Nick Sauer and Van Holloway were too much for the Dons, leading the Warriors with 19 and 14 points, respectively. Dons assistant coach John Slavin described Sauer as a “Division-I talent with great post moves” while Holloway did his damage from beyond the arc, hitting four 3-point shots.

Andrew Adams reached double figures for the Dons, posting a team-high 12 points while helping Santa Barbara to a respectable second-half after a poor first two quarters.

The Dons also saw strides from Spencer Mikles, who started at point guard and ran the offense with efficiency according to Slavin.

“For a sophomore, he’s a heady young kid,” Slavin said.

Santa Barbara closes out the Clash on the Coast Tournament on Friday with a matchup against host Pacifica.
