The good times kept rolling for Santa Barbara’s boys soccer team as the Dons improved to 10-0 to start the season with two wins at the South Torrance Tournament on Monday.
With victories over Chadwick (7-0) and North Torrance (3-0), the Dons are into Tuesday’s quarterfinals where they will meet Palos Verdes at 10:30 a.m.
Sanford Spivey scored three times on the day, including two against North Torrance, and Alfredo Ibarra put two second-half goals in against Chadwick.
Dons head coach Todd Heil said he thought Chadwick was overmatched but that the North Torrance game was much closer than the score indicated.
While Santa Barbara took a 4-0 lead into halftime against Chadwick, the Dons were only up 1-0 on North Torrance at the break after Spivey headed one in off a corner kick. Santa Barbara was able to add two more goals in the final 40 minutes of play to keep thier winning streak alive.
Santa Barbara’s defense has recorded six shutouts in its ten games.
