Sophomore guard Frannie DeAngelis scored all of her game-high 21 points in the second half on Thursday afternoon, leading SBCC to a 61-48 women’s basketball victory over L.A. Valley in the first round of the Antelope Valley Holiday Tournament.
DeAngelis, who also had four steals, hit 6-15 from the field and 8-9 from the free-throw line. Jake Kelly added 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals while Brittany Stephenson had 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for the Vaqueros (7-7), who led 25-19 at halftime.
“We shot it better (48 percent in the second half),” noted coach Sandrine Krul. “They’re starting to understand their roles and doing what they do best.”
Mara Lux collected 10 rebounds, helping the Vaqueros to a 47-37 advantage.
SBCC will take on No. 6 Mt. San Jacinto on Friday at 5 p.m. in the championship semifinals.
