Matt McClenathen had 20 points and 10 boards as the Dos Pueblos boys basketball team picked up a solid win in the Ventura Kiwanis Tournament on Tuesday, defeating Westlake 66-47. The Chargers (7-7) shot a more-than-healthy 26-for-43 from the floor.
“It was just a team effort. It was really fun to watch them play Charger basketball how it’s supposed to be played,” said coach Joe Zamora.
The coach said that McClenathen and Robbie Mestas provided a strong post presence, and that the Chargers showed lots of patience on offense. He credited Cameron Nelson for effectively containing Westlake standout Devon Silber and Eric Arroyo for his 8-point performance off of the bench.
The Chargers face Rio Mesa on Wednesday.
