Rachel Smith scored in the 24th minute off of an assist from Marina Plesons as the Dos Pueblos girls soccer team hung on for a 1-0 win at Righetti on Monday. It was the Chargers’ first win of the season and the first over the Warriors in many years, according to coach Molly Imel.
“This was not a precision-based game. It was low-quality, and we’re lucky to come away with the win,” said Imel. “But the girls got the job done and put the ball in the back of the net.”
She also highlighted goalie Meagan Bellefeuille, who had five saves.
“She owned the goal today,” said Imel. “She literally shut down three goals Righetti would have had in the back of the net with her talent and instincts.”
The Chargers are now 1-1-2 and play at Santa Ynez on Tuesday.
