The Cate girls basketball team began its season by falling behind 13-0, but bounced back and actually had a lead in the second quarter before absorbing a 50-30 loss against Malibu on Saturday.
Senior center Grace Williams scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds while sophomore Erin Griffin pulled down eight boards to go along with five points.
“I think the story of the second half was just conditioning. Our legs went out from under us,” said coach Jim Masker.
The Rams (0-1) host Villanova on Tuesday night.
