Three goals weren’t enough to take the fight from the Bulldogs as Carpinteria allowed leads of 2-0 and 3-2 disappear in a 3-3 draw with Buena on Tuesday at Carpinteria.
Eduardo Contreras, Tony Alvarez and Christian Estrada scored for the Warriors, who are now 1-0-1 to start the season. Carpinteria moves on to this weekend’s Cats & Hounds Tournament, where it finished second to Santa Barbara High last year.
“I think we were maybe a little tired from yesterday,” said Warriors head coach Daniel Torres, whose team defeated Nordhoff 2-0 in its season-opener on Monday. “You have to give Buena credit as well, they didn’t give up.”
Estrada’s goal broke a 2-2 tie late in the second half, seemingly the game-winner before Buena recorded the equalizer four minutes later in the 77th minute.
