Bishop Diego freshman Justin Brosnan posted the equalizer for the Cardinals in a season-opening 1-1 draw with visiting Simi Valley on Wednesday.
Brosnan headed a ball past the Lancers’ goalie in the 28th minute. Michael Morando set it up, providing the perfect cross to Brosnan.
Simi Valley had gained a 1-0 advantage 10 minutes earlier on a Bishop Diego own goal.
“We kept our composure and continued to dictate the game,” said Cardinals head coach Jesus Landeros.
Landeros praised the work of Brosnan, Luis Ortiz and senior Alex Robitaille, all playing in their first varsity games.
Bishop travels to Santa Clara on Friday for its first road test of the season.
