Agoura Chargers continue dominance, beat DP

After consecutive 33-point wins over Santa Barbara and San Marcos, the Agoura Chargers continued their dominance in the Gold Coast Tournament by crushing the Dos Pueblos girls basketball team 77-28 on Friday.

“They’re good to say the least,” said DP coach Maynard Pilapil. “They didn’t miss. They just did not miss.”

Agoura knocked down 10 3-pointers in the game and forced 19 turnovers.

“They’re vicious with their trap and are good at anticipating. Most of our turnovers were off of passes,” said Pilapil, who added that besides Buena and Ventura, he is “99-percent sure” that Agoura is the best team that DP (5-2) will face this year.

Jessica Escalante led DP with 15 points, and both teams scored 16 points in the third quarter. Dos Pueblos plays Rio Mesa at 4 p.m. Saturday.
