In its final exhibition game, Westmont Women’s Basketball suffered a 67-53 loss at Cal State Northridge on Saturday. The Warriors struggled offensively, shooting just 25% from the floor.
“We struggled shooting the ball tonight,” said Westmont Head Coach Kirsten Moore, “and we turned the ball over too much. Overall, it was a sloppy game for us.”
A bright spot for the Warriors was senior point guard Amber Stevens who scored eight points, pulled down eight rebounds, tallied seven assists and notched two steals for the Warriors. Senior guard Jessica Case and senior post Alisha Heglund led the Warriors in scoring with 10 points each. Sophomore guard Katie Kittle had 9 points and 7 rebounds.
“We did a pretty good job fighting on the boards against a very good rebounding team,” said Moore. “We saw a lot of things we can work on and fix.”
The Warriors will begin playing games that count when the fly to Utah at the end of next week for three games as part of the Westminster Tournament. On Thursday, #18 Westmont will take on Montana-Western, then on Friday do battle with #23 Carroll (Mont.). Saturday the Warriors will play the host Griffins of Westminster.
