UCSB is on the brink of cracking the top-25 in the AVCA women’s volleyball poll for the first time since 2005, receiving the 27th most votes in the latest poll released Monday.

The Gauchos, winners of four straight, are 18-5 overall and 8-3 in the Big West. UCSB has six remaining matches on its regular season schedule, including a Nov. 13th clash at first-place UC Davis. The Gauchos host No. 22 San Diego in their regular-season finale on Nov. 24.
Big West teams UC Irvine and Long Beach State are also receiving votes.
Penn State was the overwhelming choice as the No. 1 team, receiving 50-of-60 first-place votes from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
