Defending champion Lauren Stratman reached the Channel League singles semifinals without a hitch on Monday, winning two matches 6-0, 6-0.
Dons players Rachel Decker-Sadowski and Ariel Beckerman also reserved spots in Tuesday’s semifinals in dominating fashion.
The match between Santa Barbara’s Grace Flintermann and San Marcos’ Caitlin Mannix, for the fourth spot, was suspended due to darkness and will resume at noon on Tuesday with Flintermann holding a 6-3, 5-4 lead. Both semifinal matches will begin at 2 p.m. and the final is set for Thursday at Knowlwood Tennis Club.
Beckerman and Stratman are matched up against each other, while Decker-Sadowski, the league champion as a sophomore in 2007, awaits the winner of Flintermann-Mannix.
San Marcos’ Amy Kinsella, Kiki Katsev and Santa Barbara’s Taryn Mjelde won first round matches to make the quarterfinals. Dos Pueblos’ Chloe Warinner engaged Mjelde in the longest match of the day, a 6-0, 6-3 win for the don that last one hour and 45 minutes.
