Judging by Saturday’s final score, the Santa Barbara girls tennis team is in a winning mode at the right time, posting a 17-1 victory over visiting La Quinta in CIF’s Round of 16 for Division II.
“Everybody played and everybody played well,” said Dons head coach Steve Geremia.
Rachel Decker-Sadowski, Ari Beckerman and Grace Flintermann each won a pair of sets before giving way to reserves.
In doubles it was the same, as the Dons’ top teams won two sets before taking an early rest. Hanna Grokenberger and Kinzie McKeown were back together for two wins and Channel League doubles champions Haley Hranicky-Galitzer and Aurora Garrison went 2-0. Talia and Ariana Hudson played at No. 3.
The only set the Dons gave up was because of an injury.
Santa Barbara advances to Tuesday’s quarterfinals where it awaits the winner of Beverly Hills and Esperanza.
