Rams’ season ends after loss, coinflip

“It was one of those nights where we played bad and our opponent played great,” is how Cate coach Dan Terry described the Rams’ 21-25, 25-16, 25-8, 25-19 loss to Thacher on Wednesday. Both teams finished tied for second place in the Condor League at 3-3, and the Toads won a coinflip to decide which squad would go to the playoffs.

Cate’s middle blocker sprained her ankle in the first game, but the Rams mounted an 8-point comeback to win it anyway. Junior outside hitter Addison Mayfield racked up 12 kills with eight digs and a block while outside hitter Emma Birrell added six kills, two aces and nine digs.
