Sophomore Maria Mayer notched 11 kills and hit .381 on Friday night, guiding SBCC to a 25-17, 25-14, 25-15 women’s volleyball sweep at Oxnard. The Vaqueros, ranked No. 6 in the state, won their fifth straight match to improve to 17-2 overall and 6-1 in the WSC North.
Jenn Waddill had eight kills and Jessica Tune added seven. Kelsey Soos had a pair of aces and Chelsea Forrey played well, according to coach Ed Gover.
The Vaqueros have won 17 of their last 18 with the only loss coming to No. 3 Moorpark (17-1, 7-0). SBCC will play host to the Raiders in a first-place showdown on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
