Memo Gonzalez racked up three assists and a goal Tuesday night and freshman goalie Ismael Guzman notched his third straight shutout as SBCC routed Glendale 6-0 in a men’s soccer match at La Playa Stadium. The Vaqueros (8-5-4, 8-0-3) scored three times in a 17-minute span of the first half to remain unbeaten in conference play.
SBCC extended its lead over second-place Canyons to five points (27-22) with three games to play.
Danny Molineaux found the net in the 21st minute, Kalum Horne scored three minutes later and Molineaux added another goal in the 38th minute. Gonzalez, a freshman from Carpinteria High, assisted on both of Molineaux’s goals and also provided the helper on Melvin Yekeh’s goal in the 60th minute.
Lee Jackson made it 5-0 in the 67th with Yekeh picking up the assist and Gonzalez completed the scoring in the 83rd on a penalty kick.
“All the guys played well,” said coach John Sisterson. “We had about 95 percent of the possession. We really went about our business and that’s what I was hoping for.”
SBCC travels to Moorpark on Friday for a 2 p.m. game.
