Three of the four semifinal teams in Thursday’s Channel League girls tennis doubles championships at Knowlwood are from Santa Barbara High.
Hanna Grokenberger and Kinzie McKeown defeated Dos Pueblos’ Nicole Eskenazi and Kim Preston 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday while Dons twins Thalia and Ariana Hudson upset third-seeded Amy Ransohoff and Christine Pearson of San Marcos 6-1, 6-1.
“We’re very happy with that. (Ransohoff and Pearson) are a quality team and are one of the main reasons why San Marcos took second in the league over DP this year,” said Dons coach Steve Geremia.
The Royals, however, will be represented in the semifinals by the duo of Amy Kinsella and Shelby Zylstra, who breezed past Ventura’s Malin TerHorst and Kelsey Cole 6-1, 6-1. In the fourth quarterfinal, Santa Barbara’s Haley Hranicky-Galitzer and Aurora Garrison defeated teammates Savannah Fox and Emily Baum 6-1, 6-1.
Thursday’s singles and doubles action gets underway at noon.
