Kelly Deckers found the net in the sixth minute on Friday night at La Playa Stadium and went on to score four goals as SBCC overwhelmed Oxnard 6-1 in a women’s soccer match.
Dani Jones had two assists while Elicity Fabing and Renee Block added second-half goals for the 23rd-ranked Vaqueros (9-3-6, 4-2-2 WSC), who are No. 14 in Southern California and need to finish in the top 16 to make the playoffs.
Deckers, a freshman from Valencia, drilled a header on a corner kick by Jones in the sixth minute. She broke free, dribbled around the keeper and scored in the 26th minute, then made it 3-0 in the 33rd on a 20-yard shot that trickled through the goalie’s hands.
She scored her fourth goal the 69th minute. Deckers, who has 17 goals on the year, had a five-goal game against Hancock.
Courtney Belsheim, a key midfielder for the Vaqueros, left the field with a knee injury in the 59th minute and never returned.
