Not surprisingly, Dos Pueblos was seeded No. 1 and crosstown rival Santa Barbara No. 2 in the CIF Division 1A girls volleyball playoffs.
The Chargers (23-2), whose only losses this season have been against San Jose’s Archbishop Mitty, the top-ranked team in the state and the country, will open postseason play at home Tuesday night against San Luis Obispo, the No. 4 team from the Pac-7 League.
Dos Pueblos, champions of the Channel League for the second straight year, reached the 1A final last year and lost to Santa Barbara before a packed house at UCSB’s Rob Gym.
Defending CIF champion Santa Barbara (18-8) will also open the playoffs at home Tuesday, hosting Notre Dame Academy, the No. 3 team from the Sunshine League.
Sunshine League champion Marymount is the 1A Division’s No. 3 seed and El Dorado of Orange County is the fourth seed.
Condor League champion Laguna Blanca (18-1) received a first-round bye in the Division 4AA tournament. The Owls will play the winner of Arrowhead Christian vs. Notre Vista at home in a second-round match on Thursday night.
Cate School received an at-large berth and will open on the road Tuesday at Mary Star in San Pedro.
The second round is on Thursday and the quarterfinals on Saturday. The semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 17 and the championship Nov 20-21 at Cypress College.
