Bishop Diego qualified its boys and girls cross country teams to the CIF Prelims by finishing in the top three at the Frontier League Championships at Lake Casitas on Thursday.
The Cardinal girls were runners-up to Nordhoff while the Bishop boys took third place.
Christie Delgadillo paced the Bishop girls with a second-place finish in 21:44 over the hilly three-mile course. Nicole Poindexter placed eighth in 24:23 followed by Stephanie Ramirez (12th, 25:30), Greer Shull (14th, 25:53), Anna Fields (15th, 26:01) and Kim Ruiz, (23rd, 29:33).
Nordhoff scored 24 points to Bishop’s 49.
Bishop Diego’s boys tallied 77 points to finish behind St. Bonaventure (27) and Nordhoff (40).
Ted Sleep was the top Cardinal runner, placing eighth in 18:24. Trent Speier came in 11th in 18:29 and Elias Munoz followed in 12th in 18:40. Other Bishop finishers were Aaron Rubio (24th, 20:01), Max Russer (28th, 20:15) and Matthew Grimes (30th, 20:31).
