Bishop Diego inducts new Hall-of-Famers

Bishop Diego held a special ceremony on Sunday evening to induct eight new members into its Cardinal Hall-of-Fame.

The inductees are:

Thor Schmidt (’94) — A football and baseball star for the Cardinals who went on to play football at Northwestern.

Pat Dobson (’99) — A football, baseball and soccer standout who went on to play baseball with the San Francisco Giants organization.

Nancy Craig (’77) — The setter for two CIF championship volleyball teams as well as the catcher on the softball squad and a point guard in hoops.

Michelle Olivera (’84) — A multi-sport star who qulaified for the 1984 Olympic Trials in the javelin while still in high school. She finished ninth.

Richie Donati (’92) — A record-setting quarterback and pitcher for the Cardinals who went on to take the snaps at Fresno State, where he threw for over 4,000 yards and 23 touchdowns. He then played semi-pro football.

Benito Rivera (’93) — The last of seven siblings to attend Bishop, he was an 11-time letterman who set school football records for receptions, touchdown receptions and interceptions. He was also a part of some of Bishop’s best-ever basketball squads and also starred in baseball. He is currently the school’s JV hoops coach.

Ralph Molina (’79) — Currently in his 24th season as a coach for the Cardinals, Molina is also a decorated member of the Santa Barbara Police Departmen. He is the football team’s defensive coordinator but was also the head coach in 1985. He has also served as the school’s head baseball coach.
