Warriors turned aside by Biola at Lovik

In a battle of teams tied at 2-0 in conference, Westmont Men’s Soccer suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss to Biola on Tuesday afternoon at Lovik Field in a Golden State Athletic Conference showdown.

Biola scored its first goal on a penalty kick by Kennedy Chongo in the twenty-ninth minute after Westmont goalkeeper Matt McNab was called for a foul inside the box.

The Eagles second goal came with a little more than five minutes left in the contest.  After picking up a lose ball on the left side of the goal, Biola’s Marco Ruvalcaba found the back of the net from 15 yards out.

Biola out shot Westmont 7-5 in the first half, but the Warriors came out of the halftime huddle with more intensity and took nine shots compared to the Eagles five. Both teams had five corner kicks with Biola taking four in the first half and Westmont tallying four in the second.

The Warriors will host #13 Concordia on Saturday as part of a men’s and women’s soccer doubleheader.  The men are scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff with the women following at seven o’clock.
