It proved to be a short night for the Westmont volleyball team in Riverside on Saturday. The Warriors fell in straight sets 25-15, 25-16, 25-14. With the loss, Westmont falls to 12-10 overall and 3-9 in Golden State Athletic Conference action. California Baptist improved to 10-2 in conference and 20-2 overall.
Senior middle blocker Katey Lowry led the Warriors with eight kills and a .350 attack percentage. As a team, Westmont tallied just 23 kills and posted a .094 attach percentage.
The Warriors showed some promise in the third set, jumping out to a 10-5 advantage. But the Lancers scored the next seven points to regain the lead for good.
Next week, Westmont will play two home games. On Tuesday, the Warriors will host Hope International (6-17, 2-10 GSAC). Then on Westmont will welcome #3 Concordia to Murchison Gymnasium. Both games are scheduled to begin at seven o’clock.
