Jenn Waddill and Nicole Bergmann controlled the middle on Friday night, leading SBCC to a 25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17 women’s volleyball victory in its final nonconference match at Bakersfield.
Waddill had 12 kills and four blocks while Bergmann racked up 12 kills and two blocks. Maria Mayer added nine kills for the ninth-ranked Vaqueros (11-1), who extended their school-record winning streak to 11.
“We played steady on the road and it’s always tough at Bakersfield,” said coach Ed Gover. “It was a good solid team effort and Kelsey (Soos) did a great job of setting the middle. Our serve-receive, led by Jake Kelly, was also outstanding.”
After taking next week off, SBCC will open WSC North play on Oct. 13 at Cuesta.
