Senior midfielder Amanda Barret recorded her first goal of the season, but Westmont women’s soccer suffered a 3-1 road loss to Fresno Pacific on Wednesday afternoon. The loss drops the Warriors to 2-3 in Golden State Athletic Conference play and 4-5-1 overall. Fresno Pacific improved to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the GSAC.
Barret scored in the twenty-fourth minute on an unassisted shot from outside the box. The ball hit the net in the top left corner of the goal, giving the Warriors a temporary 1-0 lead.
But Fresno Pacific’s Jessica Pereschica scored twice in less than a three-minute span to put Fresno Pacific up 2-1. Pereschica’s first goal was assisted by Ida Rodriguez who passed the ball into the box. Diana Ortega earned the assist on the second goal after she passed a free kick to Pereschica who fired off a shot from the top of the box. Fresno Pacific’s final score came in the ninetieth minute when Demi Hamilton scored assisted by Ashley Sherr.
The Sunbirds held a 12-7 shot advantage over the Warriors and a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Warriors return home for a Homecoming game against Point Loma Nazarene on Saturday at Lovik Field. Game time has been set for 3:30 p.m.
