Sophomore Asaka Sim shot the best round of the day and her best round of the season on Monday with a 2-over-par 74 that earned her second place in the North-South Women’s Golf Invitational at Morro Bay GC.
Sim, the defending state champion, finished at 11-over 155 and tied for second, three shots behind the winner, Ellen Krause of Bakersfield, who shot two rounds of 76. Sacramento City topped the 10-school field at 642, followed by Bakersfield (650) and SBCC (681).
Jenna Boyle shot 87 on Monday and finished at 167 while Nicole Denny turned in an 84 to finish at 175.
“We haven’t had a consistent day yet and that’s been the word of the year — consistent,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “Each round I see some positives with some stepping it up and some taking steps back. That’s the nature of golf. I’m still confident that this team is strong.”
