Sim one off leader at Robinson Ranch

SBCC’s Asaka Sim shot 79 on Monday at Robinson Ranch in Santa Clarita and finished second at WSC No. 4, one shot behind the medalist, Katherine James of Bakersfield.

The Renegades totaled 323 in the five-school women’s golf event. Canyons was second at 331, followed by SBCC at 341. Bakersfield leads the WSC at 15-1, four games ahead of Canyons (11-5) and five in front of the Vaqueros (10-6).

Twin Lakes Golf CourseKait Gatena turned in an 85 for SBCC and Jenna Boyle shot 88.

“We haven’t put it together as a team,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “We’re not firing on all cylinders and I look forward to the day that happens.

“Our mentality was good. We’re halfway through the league season and we need to make a move soon.”

The Vaqueros will travel to San Dimas Canyon GC for WSC No. 5 on Wednesday.
