SBCC recorded its second straight 2-0 men’s soccer victory on Tuesday afternoon at Citrus, thanks to the play of “The Dannys.”
Danny Rodriguez put the Vaqueros ahead 1-0 in the 22nd minute at Glendora on a shot from 30 yards out, following a corner kick by Ryan McGavigan. In the 72nd minute, Danny Molineaux was brought down in the box and Rodriguez converted the penalty kick.
SBCC improves to 2-5-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in the Western State Conference.
“It was a good performance, all our guys played well,” said coach John Sisterson. “We outshot them 17-7 and didn’t allow a shot in the second half.”
It was the second straight shutout for keeper Ismael Guzman and the Vaquero defense.
“Ismael was solid,” Sisterson added. “I’m happy with the boys, they’re starting to get on track.”
Santa Barbara will play at Glendale on Friday night.
