Having fun is what it’s all about.
“Before the match I told the girls to just go out and have fun – and they responded by shooting their lowest score of the season,” said coach Shawn Ricci after his San Marcos girls golf team defeated Ventura 242-275 at par-36 Buenaventura Golf Course on Thursday.
Lise Anderson earned medalist honors for the fifth time this season by shooting a 44, helping San Marcos pick up its second Channel League win to close out the regular season.
Alexandra Peretiako shot a 45 and Zaira Barbosa fired a career-best 46.
“That’s a great way for her to end her high school career,” said Ricci. “I am proud of the team, their hard work and the accomplishments for the year. Two months ago our first team score was 302 and today we shot a 242 – a 60 stroke improvement overall is awesome.”
