The San Marcos boys water polo team didn’t have what it needed against Newbury Park on Monday, resulting in a 13-5 non-league loss.
Travis Johnson drew three ejections and scored twice but Royals head coach Jeff Ashton thought his team came out flat and never recovered.
Andre Rivera matched Johnson team-high two goals. Travis Frohlich scored the other for San Marcos and Tyler Lisea notched three assists. Chris Bebb recorded nine saves in goal.
The Royals, 10-17, have two games left on their schedule – against Channel League co-champions Dos Pueblos and Ventura.
