Cate’s varsity water polo team used some key contributions from its JV players, combined with the efforts of its veterans, to whallop visiting Channel Islands 18-9 on Saturday.
Varsity players Brian Warren and Christian Lowe matched each other with a team-high 3 goals each while JV player Chris Cusack scored twice. Sophomore Tim Annick, also a JV player, added a goal.
In front of their largest crowd of the year, the Rams opened up a 9-3 lead by halftime and outscored the Raiders by four goals in the third quarter.
Blake Mackall and Jacob Winnikoff shared time in the cage for Cate, which faces Pacific View League-leading Rio Mesa in its next contest.
