The Cate boys water polo team was in the flow against Oxnard on Wednesday, but slowed to a trickle in the fourth quarter as the Yellowjackets pulled away for a 7-3 league win.
Brett Diemer, Conrad Kurth and Christian Lowe each scored for the Rams, putting Cate within striking distance of Oxnard entering the fourth period at 5-3.
Rams head coach Nathan Alldredge praised his team’s defensive effort in slowing down the Yellowjackets, who scored mostly in 6-on-5 situations.
The game marks the end to the first half of league, with a rematch from the league opener against Pacifica set for Thursday.
