The Laguna Blanca girls tennis team set itself up for a CIF playoff berth out of the Condor League on Saturday, winning the first of two meetings with Thacher 13-5.
The Owls and Toads meet again on Wednesday in a rainy day make-up match. Another win would clinch second place in league and a playoff spot for Laguna Blanca.
Senior leaders Liza Fletcher and Kelsey Chesterfield swept three sets each as did the Owls’ top doubles team of Caitlin Connor and Olivia Liebman.
“That’s the first time our doubles did so well,” said Laguna head coach Brian Antecki, who enjoyed two more set wins from his No. 2 doubles team of Lauren Conk and Julia Grienitz.
Laguna Blanca improves to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in league.
