Lindsey McClellan scored in the 23rd minute and Leanna Aceves converted a rebound with three minutes left in the first half. The 14th-ranked Raiders won their sixth straight to remain undefeated (11-0-3, 6-0-1) and one point in front of Ventura in the WSC North race.
No. 23 SBCC (8-3-5, 3-2-2) had a handful of scoring chances. Courtney Belsheim was stopped on a point-blank try in the 29th minute and Jamie Kucharski knocked a ball off the top of the crossbar in the 43rd.
“Jamie put a couple of good balls in on free kicks but we just couldn’t get on the end of them,” said SBCC coach John Sisterson. “We never got going against this team. We never really got out of second gear and you’re going to struggle when you make two errors.
“You’ve got to come out and compete, we’ve only got ourselves to blame.”
The Vaqueros will travel to Taft on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. nonconference game. They play their final two regular-season home games on Nov. 6 (Oxnard) and Nov. 10 (Cuesta).
