Emily Duncan and Julia Rios are through to the second day at the Frontier League Girls Tennis Championships, thanks to an 8-4 victory over Carpinteria’s Amanda Burch and Shanya Norman at Miranda Park.
The league championship will be decided on Tuesday at Santa Clara’s home courts.
Julia Johnson and Slyvanna Dalsgaard also won a match for the Cardinals on Monday, but were stopped in the second round by Nordhoff’s Betsy Catlett and Georgia Farrar.
Singles players Devon Stein and Brittany Gignac were also stopped short of the tournament’s second day.
