JSerra scored at will on the Santa Barbara High boys water polo team Friday, amounting to a 23-7 rout for the Dons at the Servite Tournament.
In the day’s first game, the Dons defeated Katella 10-8.
The 23 goals were the most the Dons have given up in 15 years according to Santa Barbara head coach Mark Walsh, who starting coaching there in 1993.
“They handed it to us,” said Walsh of JSerra, the No. 2 team in Div. II.
The Dons have a chance to redeem themselves on Saturday, but it doesn’t get any easier with games against Loyola, the No. 1 team in Division I, along with Northwood and Laguna Beach.
Brendan Kerwin-McElroy scored eight goals and four assists in the two games. Andrew Adams scored a pair against JSerra and Ken Myers recorded two goals and two ejections drawn in the Katella match.
Santa Barbara (13-11) has one Channel League match remaining in the regular season after this weekend’s tournament.
