Brendan Kerwin-McElroy had a massive day for the Santa Barbara boys water polo team on Saturday, reaching double-digits in scoring in a Dons split on the final day of the Villa Park Tournament.
Kerwin-McElroy posted four goals in a 9-7 loss to Capital Valley before erupting for six more to help the Dons close out the tourney with a 13-11 victory over Santiago. The senior also had a pair of assists in each game and five steals against Capital Valley.
Enzo Wolfe had five goals and five steals combined and Evan Schu was another to score in both matches.
Santa Barbara fell behind 0-4 to Capital Valley but charged back to get even at 6-6 by the end of the third quarter. The Dons’ momentum died in the fourth however, as they were outscored 3-1.
Santa Barbara hosts No. 6 Ventura on Tuesday in a pivotal Channel League matchup.
