Kaitlyn Rodnick and Taryn Mjelde teamed up for the first time and “played extremely well” at the top doubles spot according to coach Steve Geremia as the No. 2 Santa Barbara girls tennis team demolished host Ventura 16-2 on Monday.
Mjelde and Rodnick went 2-0 as did the twin-twosome of Ariana and Talia Hudson. The sisters won both of their sets 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Alex Demopoulos teamed up with junior Savannah Fox and the two combined to go 2-0.
“Savannah really took charge and really enabled Alex to play her best,” said Geremia.
Top singles player Rachel Decker-Sadowski won her three sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
With the win, the Dons improved to 6-0 in the Channel League clinched at least a share of their 29th consecutive conference title. Ventura is now 1-5 in league.
