Madison Snider overcame Laguna Blanca’s Liza Fletcher on her way to sweeping her singles sets Saturday, but it was Cate’s doubles teams that led the Rams to a Condor League-opening 13-5 victory over the Owls at Pershing Park.
The duos of Sarah Cohen/Annaliese Schroeder and Lela Puckett/Nikita Kokal didn’t drop a set all day as the Rams won 8-of-9 doubles sets.
Snider edged Fletcher in a tiebreaker to win that set 7-6.
“I could not have been more pleased with the effort displayed by every one of our girls today. Everyone contributed to our first Condor League win,” said Rams head coach Barbara DeGroot, whose team improves to 2-3 overall, 1-0 in league.
Cate travels to Dunn on Wednesday.
