Mackenzie Walsh, Adrian Walsh and Denali Tietjen went 1-2-3 for Cate’s girls cross country team on Wednesday at Midland, giving the Rams the girls title in the season’s first Condor League meet.
Joe Gottwald was the top finisher for Cate on the boys side, placing 12th overall with a time of 18 minutes and 42 seconds. Four other Rams finished within 44 seconds of Gottwald, making head coach Karl Weis believe that, with some improvement, Cate can record multiple top-10 finishes to better their third-place result on Wednesday.
Midland and Thacher finished ahead of Cate.
Sophomore Austin Lokre was closest to Gottwald, only three seconds behind.
Cate will be racing at the Brentwood Invitational on Saturday and locally on Oct. 9 at the Dos Pueblos Invitational.
