Cardinals stopped by Warriors, 11-7

Devon Stein and Brittany Gignac won two sets each for the Bishop Diego girls tennis team, yet the Cardinals couldn’t overcome Carpinteria in an 11-7 setback to the Warriors on Tuesday.

Carpinteria improved on the last meeting between the two teams, which ended in a 9-9 tie with the Warriors edging the Cardinals on games.

Bishop tallied another win in singles from Brenna Linnehan and got a win in doubles from the teams of Julia Rios/Emily Duncan and Sylvana Dalsgaard/Julia Johnson.

“They did the best they could so I’m proud that they gave it their best shot,” said Cardinals head coach Suzanne Petrie.

The Cardinals wrap up the regular season on Wednesday with a double-header against Santa Paula. Frontier League Championships are Monday & Tuesday at Santa Clara.
