Cardinals drop final two matches at Santa Paula

Bishop Diego’s girls tennis team came up short in its final two regular-season matches, falling 11-7 at Santa Paula on Wednesday before also losing a 7-2 decision shortened by darkness. The doubleheader was due to a previous rain-out.

Community West BankJulia Rios and Emily Duncan had an excellent day in the Cardinals’ top doubles spot, winning their four sets 6-1, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4, Devon Stein went 3-2 at the No. 1 singles spot.

Coach Suzanne Petrie said that the team is looking forward to next week’s Frontier League finals. The Cardinals wrapped up the regular season still searching for a win.
