Dos Pueblos’ Nicole Bullemer turned a 2-shot lead into a 10-stroke league title on Tuesday, beating out Buena’s Emily Wisma at Ojai’s Soule Park for her second straight Channel League Championship.
The senior from DP improved on her score from Monday, even in Tuesday’s windy conditions, carding a 3-over 75 to separate herself from the pack. Bullemer finished with a 36-hole score of 155 over two days.
Dos Pueblos’ Vanesa Villa and San Marcos’ Lise Anderson tied for third by recording a 171. Santa Barbara’s Olivia Fanaro (182) and Lexi Ortega (185) placed fifth and sixth respectively. The top six automatically advance to CIF’s Individual playoff starting next week at Soule Park.
Dos Pueblos senior Emily Fox was granted an additional individual playoff spot – even though she missed the tournament due to illness – because the coaches used a Channel League bylaw to vote her in knowing she was one of the top performers in league all season long.
Charger teammates Paige Granneman (186) and Bekah Beveridge tied for seventh and another Charger, Grace Jeong, tied for ninth with San Marcos’ Alexandria Peretiako (187).
Bullemer tightened up her putting on Tuesday in addition to knocking home an eagle on the par-5 14th. The senior’s second shot rolled up to within inches of the cup, needing only a tap-in to complete the hole.
