Sophomore Jenna Boyle fired a 78 on Wednesday to take third place in WSC No. 5 at San Dimas GC. Teammate Asaka Sim added an 83 for SBCC, which finished eight shots behind the winner, Bakersfield, in the women’s golf event.
Nicole Denny had an 84 and Anna Samson shot 85 for the Vaqueros, who moved back into a tie for second in the WSC standings at 13-7. Bakersfield is 19-1.
“A lot of good things happened today,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “Kait played well on the front, Asaka shot a 1-over 37 on the back and Jenna played a solid round. We picked up for each other and that’s the important thing in golf.
“We need to play well because we’re battling for a playoff spot.”
There are three WSC meets remaining and the top two teams will advance to the Southern Cal Regional.
On Monday, the Vaqueros travel to RiverLakes Ranch in Bakersfield for WSC No. 6.
