Lauren Underwood had six kills and setter Jenna McIntyre added 16 assists, but the Bishop Diego girls volleyball team was swept at La Reina on Thursday night, 25-8, 25-16, 25-11.
“The first set isn’t worth talking about, but we really stepped up in the second game,” said coach Joe Reiken.
In fact, the Cardinals had a 4-point lead at one juncture in the set before La Reina caught up midway through and capitalized on some passing errors by Bishop.
“We’re not there yet, but we’re seeing flashes of brilliance,” said Reiken.
Bishop (1-4, 0-3 TVL) hosts rival Carpinteria on Tuesday.
