SAN LUIS OBISPO — Antonia Antes posted a season-high 14 kills and hit .386 Thursday night, guiding SBCC to a 3-1 women’s volleyball victory at Cuesta. Jenn Waddill, Maria Mayer and Nicole Bergmann added nine kills apiece in the 27-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-20 triumph.
Bentley Shugrue, filling in for Jessica Tune (illness), had 10 kills in the third straight win by the seventh-ranked Vaqueros (15-2, 4-1). SBCC has captured 15 of its last 16 matches.
Jake Kelly made 24 digs while setter Kelsey Soos had 54 assists. Soos also had three aces, boosting her WSC-leading total to 40.
“It was a hard-fought battle,” said coach Ed Gover. “A very good win against a good Cuesta team.”
The match was a makeup of the Oct. 13 WSC opener, which was postponed by a leaky roof in the Cuesta gym. The same teams will meet on Tuesday at SBCC’s Sports Pavilion with the first serve at 7 p.m.
