The San Marcos girls golf team kicked the elephant from the room on Tuesday, picking up its first win of the season in a 266-318 Channel League victory over Ventura.
Lise Anderson medaled for the fourth time this season, causing San Marcos head coach Shawn Ricci to call her the “backbone of the team.” Her 45 was five strokes better than Alexandria Peretiako, with Zaira Barbosa posting a 52.
Sofi Castanon had a good day with the driver, posting one of her better scores of the season at 55.
The Royals host Santa Barbara on Thursday to start the second round of league play.
