Sally Yingst pounded a team-high 13 kills and tallied six digs as the No. 2 Dos Pueblos girls volleyball team picked up a 25-23, 25-14, 27-25 win over visiting Harvard-Westlake on Saturday afternoon.
“It was a battle for every point with a very good team. Each point was very intense,” said head coach Todd Garrett.
Solid passing helped setters Sammie Brown and Paige Crane run the offense effectively, according to Garrett. Carly Wopat had 12 kills for DP while Sam Wopat added eight and Taylor Racich had four.
Megan Smith led a strong serving effort for the Chargers, who went into the match focused on attacking Harvard-Westlake’s passing game.
“Our goal was to serve them tough and knock them out of system and I think that really helped us,” said Garrett.
DP (2-0) plays at Oxnard on Tuedday at 6:30 p.m.
