Jenn Waddill pounded 10 kills, two blocks and an ace on Saturday afternoon as SBCC swept past Imperial Valley 25-10, 25-9, 25-12 in a nonconference women’s volleyball match at the Sports Pavilion. The freshman from San Marcos High had an impressive .562 hitting percentage.
The Vaqueros, who beat Santa Monica less than 17 hours earlier, improved to 4-1 with their fourth straight sweep.
“We were steady and focused, although we were a little slower than the night before,” said coach Ed Gover. “We took care of business.”
Maria Mayer hit .353 with eight kills and served 13 straight points in the opening set, stretching the lead to 17-2. Jessica Tune had five kills, setter Kelsey Soos had 28 assists and Case Jenkins recorded 12 digs.
“We have a strong front row and a great back row,” Gover added. “The ball doesn’t go down and Kelsey has a multitude of weapons.”
The Vaqueros play host to L.A. Pierce on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
