Jessica Tune and Nicole Bergmann led a balanced attack with seven kills apiece Saturday, leading SBCC to a 3-0 women’s volleyball sweep of Gavilan in its home opener. The scores were 25-14, 25-12, 25-15.
Maria Mayer added six kills while Jennifer Waddill had six kills and four blocks for the Vaqueros (2-1).
“Our passing was much better and Kelsey (Soos) ran a smoother offense,” said coach Ed Gover.
Waddill, a 6-1 freshman from San Marcos High, pounded the match-clinching spike on a back-set from Soos, a former Santa Ynez High standout.
SBCC returns to action on Friday with a 7 p.m. home match against Santa Monica.
